LADDER LEAGUE RULES

Monthly Ladder Sessions: May, June, July, August, September
-
New ladder boxes are added monthly on the 1st day of the Month.
-
Due to lack of interest in the September session, results may not count when sorting the following year boxe
How to Join
-
This is one mixed (i.e. men & women) ladder league.
-
Players will be matched with others of similar skill levels regardless of gender. If you are unsure of your level, please attend the New Member Tennis Skill Assessment sessions.
-
To join the ladder, we will send out an email to all members each month. If you wish to join, simply reply to that email. If you want to continue staying in the ladder, no response is necessary. However, if you wish to drop out, please let us know in your reply to the email.
-
Players can join at any time but will be added to the next month's session. The registration deadline is the 29th of each month.
Rules of Play
-
Players must play against every other member of their box throughout the month.
-
Each player will receive the other player’s contact information at the beginning of each session.
-
It is your responsibility to organize your matches according to both your availability.
-
Make sure to book your court in Gametime.
-
5-10 minute warm-up before starting the match: start with mini tennis, back court warm-up, volley warm-up, and finish with serve warm-up.
-
Spin Racquet or Flip Coin to determine First Server and Starting Side. The player that wins the toss decides between choosing the First Server or choosing their Starting Side. The player that loses the toss decides for the remaining option.
-
Players must change sides after every odd game (1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 11, and 13).Advantages (ads) are played.
-
Re-serve with lets. (if the ball falls in)
-
Tiebreakers:
-
The player that last served in the previous game receives first.
-
Server 1 serves only once from the right side of the court.
-
Server 2 serves their first serve from the left side and their second serve from the right.
-
Alternate servers every 2 points; first serves will start on the left side for the entire tiebreaker.
-
First one to 7 wins, but must lead by 2 points. Keep playing until the winning player leads by 2 points.
-
Change sides every time the total score is a multiple of 6 points.
-
-
If you run out of time or the match gets rained out, you will need to reschedule to finish another time.
Record Your Score
The matchup WINNER is responsible for uploading the results for that match in Gametime within 24 hours. We ask that all matches be completed by the 29th of each month at the latest to allow organizers to set the boxes for the next month.
Scoring
8 Games Pro-set format with a regular tiebreaker at 7-7 (first to 7 points tiebreak - win by 2 points).
Monthly Ladder Movements
-
We always aim to have 5 players per box, but in order to add new participants, the number of players per box may vary.
-
In 5-player boxes, the top 2 players will move up a box for the next month of competition. The bottom 2 players will move down a box. The player in third position will remain in the same box for the next month of competition.
-
In 6-player boxes, the same rules apply with the exception that the third and fourth positioned players will remain in the same box.
-
In 4-player boxes, the same rules apply with the exception that no player would remain in that box.
-
For the top box, only the 2 bottom performers go down one box. For the bottom box, only the 2 top performers go up one box. The other players remain in the same box.
Box standings
The results of each box will be determined using the following criteria:
-
Total matches won during the month (1 win = 1 point). The player with the most wins will finish in first place, followed by the remaining players accordingly.
-
Head-to-head result. If two players are tied in wins, the winner of their head-to-head match will be ranked higher.
-
Games won/lost differential. If players remain tied, their games won/lost differential will be used.
-
Matches played. If the games won/lost differential cannot reasonably be used due to an unequal number of matches played, the player who completed the most matches during the month will be ranked higher to emphasize the importance of completing all scheduled matches.
Withdraw/Injury/Cancellation
-
If you are playing a match and one player has to withdraw due to injury, the other player will get all the remaining points available. For example, if the score is 4-4 and Player A retires, Player B would win 8-4.
-
If a match isn’t played due to injury or a last-minute cancellation (that cannot be rescheduled), please send us an email to explain the situation.
-
If both players cannot schedule a match after an honest attempt to play, the match score will be 0-0.
-
If you do not play any matches in a session, you may be dropped from the following session. Out of respect for other members, please make sure to play all your matches.
Tennis Etiquette
-
All players are expected to be courteous and respectful.
-
Players are responsible for line calls on their side of the net. When a ball is close to a line and the receiving player is not certain if the ball fell in or out, it is automatically considered in. Points should not be replayed in this situation.
-
Any “out”, “let” or “fault” calls must be made immediately; otherwise, the ball continues to be played.
-
If a ball from a neighboring court interrupts a play, the point should be replayed.
-
It is the server's responsibility to keep scores.
We wish every participant the best of luck and don’t forget to have FUN!
